Melita Garza started her career as a reporter and now teaches business journalism and media history at the Texas Christian University Bob Schieffer College of Communication. Outside of work, Melita Garza exercises her passion for golf with the Executive Women’s Golf Association, a golfing community for businesswomen. The organization hosts several tournaments annually, including the EWGA Cup Match Play series.

The EWGA Cup is a two-stage golfing competition. In the first stage, the Regional Cup Qualifier, teams compete in four-ball and singles play. During the four-ball match, one team comprises two players, each with a ball to play, and the lowest score is declared the team score. Singles play is an individual competition, in which golfers are scored hole by hole.

Winners of the qualifier stage will advance to the Cup Finals, a two-day event to be held in November 2016 at the Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort in Rancho Mirage, California.
